Tithebarn are the U.K.'s principal manufacturer
of salt lick blocks. We work very closely with a major processor
of salt, who have a very high reputation for outstanding quality
and value.
Our factory located in Cheshire, is an area of vast underground
salt deposits left behind since the Ice Age. The Romans, during
their occupation of England, immediately recognised the potential
and began salt production by collecting saturated brine and
evaporating it in open pans. This has changed considerably
over the years, although the basic concept remains the same.
Today
salt is extracted by a series of bore holes sunken into the
ground. Water is forced down from the surface to dissolve
and the resulting brine is then pumped to the surface for
purification. Carried by pipeline to another plant the process
of purification and drying continues and unwanted elements
are removed. Purity is assured by a quality system registered
to ISO 9002.
At
our modern factory the salt is then skilfully blended with
trace elements and/or other minerals and pressed into blocks
of 10kgs, 5kgs or 2kgs. These are weather resistant and will
withstand extreme weather conditions, thereby benefitting
live stock all year round by providing salt and minerals for
good appetite, production, fertility and growth.

Our standard range of salt blocks are called 'ROCKIES' and
can be seen in most major merchant outlets in the U.K.
Tithebarn recognise that all farming situations are not the
same and therefore offer a unique service, whereby we will
manufacture salt licks to clients' specifications and in own
brand packing if preferred.
Whilst salt licks are our main Export line, we can also offer
an extensive range of animal health and nutritional products;
brief details of which can be found on the following pages
and contained in our catalogue available from the address
below.
